GINUWINE-Differences
I heard this song on the radio this morning and my thoughts occured in the following order:

1. Oh God… this sounds like a DBSK song.
2. Wait. This sounds like a DBSK song.
3. BOY BAND COMEBACK? DBSK COME TO AMERICA PLEASE??
4. Okay. I still don’t really like this song.

I looked it up, and unfortunately this is leftover from 2001-2 , the setting of the original boy band era. Also turns out Ginuwine is just one person with a lot of background singers. OH well.

This is mostly unrelated, but fantastically wonderful anyway.

For those of you looking, this video has YET to be blocked by ‘Tohoshinki’ ’s entertainment company. I don’t know why they can’t share with us international fans who would otherwise never catch this poetic piece that is the MV.

Wow. I never really liked this song. If you don’t beleive me, I managed to sit through the whole MV and was actually surprised that there was a rap portion. I had never made it that far before.  Yunho may be saying something in english, but especially with him, its hard to tell. Meghan refuses to listen to the song, and to this day has not even heard the first note. She bets she can make it a lifetime.

Cringing falsetto aside, I am absolutely in love with the first 25 seconds of this video. Micky looks so crisp and fly, and the english muttering is surprisingly NOT old in this one. My delight ended when the cheerleader appeared. That’s when I started to smell danger. I next realized that Changmin and Yunho had been attacked by whatever hairstylist-psychopath it is that is in charge of the hairspray. I hate that woman(man?).

Then the wide shot came, and 40% of the ‘band’ had their pants tucked into knee high, UGLY boots. End of story.

You can’t hate this too much though, everyone looks too adorably happy.

This post brought to you late at night, while I am still in the denial of homework.

That’s right. It’s DBSK’s new Japanese single. Every blog post for the last two days on my Tag Surfer has been plauged by their weird MV and its lack luster choreography…. but that part is yet to come. First let’s talk about the title. Survivor, at least, that’s how I read it. Junsu would beg to differ:

PART II

“What about this MV?” You might ask. Do you really need me to post it? Youtube it, Google it, heck WORDPRESS it, there’s no doubt you’ll find DBSK and their twins dressed in black and white respectively, dancing around. [Click]  After seeing the MV a few times (and maybe listening to the song repetitively) I think I get the concept. Maybe.

Once, in a land not so far from here… (try across the Pacific) there was a group of sexy looking men dressed in white, and a similar group in black. Those in white enjoy lesuirely walks on the beach thanks to their Apple endorsments. The black dressed guys have to stay in some sucky demolished building to work on their hardcore factor.Admittedly, I am in love with the opening. Jusnu starts, and while singing, he backs up and every starts dancing in sync… starting with a shoulder roll or something? Anyway. Its the only cool dancing in the whole piece… The rest is just. Well, lets just say that I could probably pull this choreography off. Y’know. In like six months.

Now, one of the guys in white presses a wrong button, and the building self destructs. They call in their darker alteregos to hang out in the bulding as it collapses. The Leader shakes hands with himself as the two temporarily join forces, and then Team White gets the heck out of Dodge… leaving black team back to their crappy dance moves in a newly demolished building.

This is pretty.

I read a few days ago that someone thought this was a representation of the government and the people. The government sucks at life, and they people have to live through it … be ’survivors’. See? I wouldn’t give DBSK credit on being so deep. I mean mimic the global economic crash that’s occuring right now and send a message to the world’s people to stick it to the man and stick it through… is that really idol material? Then again, the boys are constantly surprising me. But, its not like they came up with the song or concept. Some big entertainment company trying to make money did.

Is Korea a little more liberal than we had thought? The sudden banning of songs last year by The Ministry of Tightwads Commission of Youth Protection, or whoever, certainly points to a little more prudness in their culture. You may remember that DBSK’s Mirotic was banned for multiple sexual innuendo’s, but mostly for the horrifically graphic “I’ve got you under my skin~” (I wonder if the Comission even HAS an English translator.)

The Idol Wave is still going strong though, despite the censoring of many big time stars. Newly blossoming boyband SHINee showed up on the scene in Spring of ‘08 , bringing a fresh and youthful look to the music scene. Many fangirls have lamented at the ages of some of their new favorites. The debuted as five 18 and under boys, clearly off limits to many of us here in the U.S… but maybe you were wrong.

According to the “trusty source” that is Wikipedia:

The age of consent in South Korea is 13 regardless of gender and/or sexual orientation.

Is your mind blow yet? Now I’m not suggesting that every 13 year old in South Korea is roaming around consummating their love. I’m also not encouraging any of you cougars out there to go throwing yourselves at young boys because its not illegal in Korea. I’m just saying that when 18 year old AJOO recently came out with his music video for ‘Wealthy 2nd Generation’ where he sips wine while intimately stroking foreign girls, no one can say anything.

Afterall, Korea’s drinking age? 19.

For all the cruel jokes that are made about Jaejoong’s questionable sexuality, Yunho is dragged down as well by rabid JaeHo fans. A scary thing in itself, the gay community has begun to recognize. I was depressed enough by being underage, a foreigner, and the same height as Yunho… but now I have to compete with men too?!?

In the single funniest post title I’ve ever read, [Trans] Korean Gays Chose Yunho as Top 10 Most Likeable Men in 2008 reports the following:

U-Know Yunho (vocalist), which is in number 10, is considered as the highest rank among other singers (T/N: which I assume the top 9 are non singers).Together with Super Junior’s member Kang In they’re chosen as “Mature Idol” among charismatic men.

It’s also possible that many people likes his cute image before he did dental surgery.

This Arirang interview with still new boyband, 2pm, was plesantly surprising. Normally, here at the theselooselips headquarters, Meghan and I are shaking our heads at the English prowess of out favorite K-pop stars… but these boys have it going on. I must have missed the fact that some of these guys are… American? -sigh-  My researching abilities have been rather lack luster as of late. In any case, there is no doubt that about half (1/3 ?) of this ‘band’ speaks English, and I am proud of this. I already liked them and their we-are-men-and-like-GIRLS-dammit vibe. Now they are officially awesome.
So why the American fail? Watch them introduce themselves, both at the begining and end of the interview, and you’ll see several members flash ‘The Shocker’. It would have been great to capture my facial expression when I saw this.

Boys, you may be able to say “Straight up” and actually sound like you know what you’re talking about but PLEASE, watch the handsigns.

Now before we get into all the messy ‘copyrighted’ business, take a moment to observe Yunho in all his dancing glory, and watch the video you’ve probably already seen eight times.

-sigh- I love that. Now, Illdielaughing lovingly (or maybe not) notes that “Yunho is still on crack.” If we’re bringing drugs into this, I want some of whatever he’s been snorting.

At this point however, it seems that the dancing is neither here nor there. Over night, blogs upon blogs have blossomed presenting the story that a certain Entertainment company may also be on crack. The music used for Yunho’s dance segment (and a low budget flashlight show on Rain’s end) was Justin Timberlake’s ‘Magic’. The beauty of this is that, not only has ‘Magic’ not been published on any albums yet, but it seems to not even had a digital release! Only a 2008 leak has made the soundtrack available to netizens.

The question arose: “If Americans can’t legally get their hands on such an unreleased song… how did a Korean Entertainment group like SM get it?”

This may be a legal issue, but for any of you who’ve carried out a simple ‘click-and-download’ you know it takes a good 30 seconds to get any song you want, the wrong way. SM is claiming innocence for now though, as their struggle in hot water continues not only for the use of  ‘Magic’ but for Usher’s ‘Dat Girl Right There’ (Taemin’s dance break) .

“DBSK and Shinee’s manager responded by saying that they didn’t know that the song was obtained through illegal means and expressed their regrets. Rain’s management, J. Tunes expressed that they did not use the music illegally on purpose but only knew that it was an American song. Some Korean netizens felt that it was a national insult. Even though the singers have called on fans not to download music illegally, why are they infringing on copyrights themselves?”

I wouldn’t worry though, Yunho seems unfazed – as long as he gets to dance, he’s good.

Currently, Yunho has stayed pretty true as a favorite. You can’t deny his awesome, and here are a few reasons why.

OLD NEWS, but still impressive. Here, Yunho saves a fan from being hit by a car while walking, talking on the phone, and listening to music. If I could multitask like that, I would most definitely have better grades.

This is a post I’ve been wanting to tackle for a while now, but a recent video pushed me towards actually writing.
And now, a PSA for you all.

 PYROTECHNICS.

Listen, you stage/show designer crazies. Flames are cool. Injuring international stars is not. Have any of you wondered about the possible dangers of fire shooting at our favorite singers (and their creepy backup dancers?) Its exceedingly dangerous, and should be stopped before someone is seriuosly injured. Take the following as an example!

If Junsu had any chest hair, it would have been singed! What a travesty!

Here, some poor member’s face was melted off and had to be replaced thorugh plastic surgery. While details were never released as to WHICH member, public opinion and intensive study points to Jaejoong.

No longer grounded from the internet, but with current grades (that the parents don’t know about) we probably should be. Sorry about that recent disappearance of all our posts; we had to somehow upload our math extra credit video for our teacher (that wasn’t youtube), and so we put it here.
